On this day in history, 2 years ago, Mandy Rose defeated Becky Lynch in her first match on SmackDown. The SmackDown General Manager Paige made it clear Absolution was no more and barred Deville from the ringside. With no Sonya in Rose’s corner, The Irish Lass Kicker fought freely, not having to look over her shoulder for an attack from The Golden Goddess’ running mate. However, in what has to be considered a major upset, Mandy Rose defeated the former SmackDown Women’s Champion in her first match on the blue brand, countering a kick from Lynch into a surprise rollup for the win. This match was insignificant at first, but it turned out to be the catalyst for Becky’s winning streak on SmackDown. Two years later, this is the only televised singles match Lynch has lost since then.
