Today In History: Vince McMahon Announces Inaugural WWE Diva Search (May 24, 2004)

On this day in history, 16 years ago, Vince McMahon announced WWE’s inaugural Diva Search competition. Seated in his office with women behind him, WWE chairman stated he was proud to give the Raw audience what they want – a $250,000 Raw Diva Search. He wanted them to search for the most personable, classy, sexy and glamorous women in the US – whether they are regular women or Hollywood starlets. Once they chose the 10 finalists, it was up to the audience to decide the winner. First televised Diva Search was won by Christy Hemme and it brought us many other women, such as Candice Michelle, Maria Kanellis and Michelle McCool.
