Zelina Vega managed Andrade for his US title match at the Kickoff. Garza was also with them, while Kevin Owens came out to neutralize them. Garza climbed onto the ring apron and Owens left the commentary table to hit Garza with a stunner. Crews hit Andrade with the sit-down spinning powerbomb for the pinfall to successfully retain the title. Zelina and Andrade were visibly frustrated at Garza.
Women’s Tag Team Titles: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. The IIconics vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
Before the match, Kayla Braxton asked Banks and Bayley if their friendship would end if they lose the tag titles, which both women brushed off as a stupid question. Bayley then reiterated that in a solo promo as Banks made her way to the ring. The match had a really good opening stretch with a lot of pin attempts, counters and break-ups before all six women entered the ring and things broke down into a brawl. With three women legal at all times, the pace stayed really high and the IIconics showed off with moves such as running crossbody to the outside. In the closing moments, Alexa hit Twisted Bliss on Peyton Royce, but Banks swooped into the ring and pinned Bliss for the three count to retain the titles.
Winners: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c)
Thoughts: A fun and fast paced match where all the competitors got to shine. There were some sloppy moments since the action was packed, but they managed to deliver an entertaining match. The ending came out of nowhere, and although I wanted The IIconics to win, I’m glad it was Sasha who got to retain the titles this time. Now she and Bayley finally get to defend the titles on NXT like they wanted.
Kayla Braxton interviewed Morrison and The Miz, while Otis and Mandy Rose appeared. Otis teased cashing in on them if they won. Mandy Rose told them to watch out.
Raw Women’s Championship: Asuka (c) vs. Nia Jax
Asuka applied an octopus hold but Jax got out of it and took over. Asuka applied a guillotine but Jax countered into a jackhammer. Jax talked trash about Kairi Sane so Asuka came back with strikes and a shining wizard for two. Asuka followed with a dropkick and a running hip attack for two. Asuka used Yes kicks but Jax caught her by legs and hit a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall. Jax ran into the post so Asuka went to the top. Jax went after her but Asuka applied an armbar. This led to Jax falling out of the ring. Asuka applied an armbar on the outside but Jax sort of slung her into the barricade. Asuka kicked her in the head but the referee counted to ten before she could get back in the ring. The match ended in a double count out.
Asuka was still pronounced as the Raw Women’s Champion. She ran back into the ring late, but then gave Jax a running hip attack on the outside before leaving.
Thoughts: This was also a fast-paced match, with lots of physicality. Jax and Asuka have always shown chemistry in the ring and this match was no exception. Asuka’s quick offense was on point, while Jax’s Jackhammer and Powerbomb looked devastating. The ending I didn’t expect, and it definitely seems to be going towards Extreme Rules. Nevertheless, I’m excited for a rematch. I hope they get a lot of time.
During the WWE title match, Lashley countered a Claymore by hitting a spear for a near fall, at which point Lana made her way to ringside. Lashley accused the ref of cheating, distracting Lashley before a Glasgow Kiss knocked Lashley into Lana, who fell on MVP. McIntyre then hit Claymore to score the pin.
