A major announcement is expected to be made Tuesday regarding the future of the NXT UK brand of WWE, per WON. Talent were informed there is a mandatory conference call tomorrow, but were not given any indication what for.
This announcement could be anything, given the circumstances. A number of NXT UK contracted wrestlers were named in various allegations over the past two weeks as part of the #SpeakingOut movement. Two of those wrestlers, Travis Banks and Ligero, were released Friday. Additionally, NXT UK has held no shows in months due to the pandemic.
Additionally, there have been plans to tape NXT UK content within two months, per Sportskeeda. The plan is to do it without fans so far at their own Performance Center.
This could be great news for the NXT UK talent and their women’s division. The current champion, Kay Lee Ray, was set to defend her title against Piper Niven at TakeOver: Dublin back in April, but that was shelved due to COVID-19. The TakeOver was moved back to the end of October, so we could expect to see the tapings lead all the way to the show. Stay tuned for more information!
